Test Analysis Workshop

About the workshop
This practical workshop is designed for people with less than 1 year’s experience. It takes students through the life cycle of a test analyst over two intensive days in the classroom, where they work in teams to develop the skills and working relationships they will need on a project. A third optional day is used to compile and provide feedback to the employer about the relative strengths and weaknesses of each of the students who attended the course.

Format
This course is a mixture of slide lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises and group discussions, with emphasis placed on the practical exercises and discussions. Throughout the 2 days, students will analyse two separate cases studies, one using a traditional narrative format for the test basis and the other based on system use cases and supporting design documentation. Students will be able to compare the results of their analysis with each other, with model answers provided.

Outcomes

• Experience in planning and determining the correct behaviour of an unfamiliar application by systematically analysing requirements and design documents
• Experience in analysing unfamiliar documentation styles (use cases and narrative requirements)
• Experience in applying a risk based approach in determining the features of a system to be tested
• Experience in applying a risk based approach in determining the level of granularity of test conditions and test case objectives
• Experience in explaining their analysis and test approach to other team members and other stakeholders
